Cosmetology Program

Western Arizona Vocational Education (WAVE) is a career and technical education (CTE) district that helps high school students prepare for life after graduation — whether that means entering the workforce immediately or continuing their education. One of the primary ways WAVE achieves this is by removing the cost barrier to college coursework.

Wave works in three ways - 

• Partnerships with local high school CTE programs.
• Payment of tuition and fees for high school students & recent graduates to attend CTE programs at local community colleges.
• Specialized training through our Central Campus courses (Fire Service, Culinary, Nursing).

The Cosmetology Program prepares students for entry-level employment in the professional beauty industry through comprehensive instruction in hair design, skin care, nail technology, and salon practices. 

The curriculum provides instruction in sanitation and safety, hair cutting and styling, chemical services, esthetics fundamentals, manicuring and pedicuring, as well as salon operations. Emphasis is placed on developing technical proficiency, professional conduct, effective communication, and delivering high-quality client service in a diverse workplace. Graduates who complete the program are prepared to take the Arizona state cosmetology licensure examination and to pursue employment in salons, spas, and related beauty industry settings, or to continue their education in advanced or specialized areas of cosmetology.
