Fire Service Pathways
Western Arizona Vocational Education (WAVE) is a career and technical education (CTE) district that helps high school students prepare for life after graduation — whether that means entering the workforce immediately or continuing their education. One of the primary ways WAVE achieves this is by removing the cost barrier to college coursework.
Wave works in three ways -
- Partnerships with local high school CTE programs.
- Payment of tuition and fees for high school students & recent graduates to attend CTE programs at local community colleges.
- Specialized training through our Central Campus courses (Fire Service, Culinary, Nursing).
WAVE partners with area fire service agencies to provide fire academy training and college credits for those who want a career in fire science.
As a Fire Science student, you will learn practical techniques for fighting fires and also study the theories of firefighting techniques. The Fire Science programs cover a wide range of classes designed to prepare you for entry-level firefighter positions and for advanced or promotion opportunities in fire services.
